Tiny flying video camera automatically follows you around.

The ‘MeCam’ is a small quadrocopter able to be launched from the palm of a hand to take photos or video of a user. It hovers automatically and can be controlled using voice commands, or by using a ‘follow me’ feature which automatically follows and records your every move.

The MeCam is based on the a Cortex-A9 SoC Module which can run from 1.0GHz to 1.5GHz depending on the configuration.It features 1GB RAM, an SD card, 2.4GHz/5GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. 

The MeCam was created by Always Innovating, who won’t produce it directly, instead licensing the product to other manufacturers. The first MeCam could hit store shelves as early as the start of 2014.

Longest running Earth observation satellite to be retired.

Landsat 5 was launched April 1, 1984, and had an expected life of three years. Although some parts did fail over the years, NASA has managed to keep getting images from it until recently. Although initially able to transmit images to a range of receiving stations worldwide, due to a hardware failure in 1987 images have since only been able to be acquired while in range of US ground receiving antennas. That meant only images of the Americas could be received, as the satellite has no on-board storage to keep data for later transmission.

Throughout its prolific career, Landsat 5 has captured images of the aftermath of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, the Chernobyl disaster, the expansion of sprawl around cities like Las Vegas, deforestation in Mexico, and even crowds descending on the U.S. capital to witness President Barack Obama’s 2009 inauguration.

Maneuvers will begin in January which will begin to lower the satellite from orbit. Landsat 8 is set to launch in February 2013.

My vision of the future. The controller could be a linix box like the blue berry pie or just work as a pass threw device for wireless hdmi. It being a low power computer would be better. This would allow for communication with the phone on a level that would not be able otherwise. I think this brings something to current gaming that doesn’t exist. This will allow for better gaming interaction via controller or keyboard and mouse. the controller could have it’s own battery and be used as a back up for the phone or allow for controller based gaming while on the go. With the proper emulators this could replace all passed console systems. I think the controller is better for gaming then the current touch screen control systems. they are clunky and not responsive. Also keyboard and mouse are far more versatile and responsive then a controller. Yay for playing guild wars 2 on my phone one day.
