I was watching the March 8^th Daily Show http://www.thedailyshow.com/ and I started to think about the amount of effort we put into making things human. We as humans have humanized nearly everything at one time or another. Mother Nature, Mother Earth, Father Time, God, Allah, and even our pets are all humanized. But, is being human all that great?

Humans are capable of such kindness and benevolence; however, they are equally capable of such horror and malice. I don’t want a computer to be able to do malicious things. Asimov had his three laws, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Laws_of_Robotics. These laws end up doing more harm then good. Is it possible to do what our evolution/creator did not; to create AI which when presented with an option will always choose the good option and still be free to choose.

If you create robots which mimic human thought and speech to perfection; are they still mimicking, or are they perhaps Hommo robatica?Robot evolution is not as limited as human evolution and has the possibility to change in days instead of centuries. With that in mind, robots have the evolutionary advantage and the possibility to replace us.

Should we take the time to identify the things that cause us to do bad things, such as greed, us and them mentality, and jealousy. If we can, maybe we can prevent them from being carried forward. Without the bad, AI/robots would not be human; but I say something which is human like, with out malice, is much better then human.

In the future you may be able to decide how you spend eternity. What would you pick?

A robot or other mechanical entity.

A biological organism such as human or perhaps engineer some other cool form.

A cyborg which is both biological and mechanical, like a human with a robot arm.

Lastly would you choose death and an eternity of nothingness.
